One of the best ways to add some spark and enthusiasm to your interior, especially when you plan to paint your trim almost everywhere, is an accent wall with a lively wallpaper pattern. One Manhattan condo owner called us in to paint all the trim, including crown molding, window trim and baseboards in a very dark green like rainforest foliage. We also were contracted with painting the doors and radiator.
Our prep always begins with covering and protecting floors, furnishings, electronics, lamps, TV sets and everything else. Then we arrange our stuff — paint cans, brushes, rollers if we use them, stir sticks and everything else. Painting trim is much more challenging than rolling walls, for the narrow-ness and location. Baseboards are down low; crown molding is up high.
Here we had the additional task of installing an intricate, colorful wallpaper on two walls. More supplies, more expertise and more precise workmanship. The jungle-like pattern complemented the rainforest paint color. The whole place took on a sophisticated flair with an earthy note for the contrast of trim to walls and the intrigue of the two wallpapered accent walls in multiple shades of green.
