Upper West Side Cabinet Painting
The heart of the home has always been the kitchen, much like the heart of New York City has been Central Park. Not always like the kitchen, but since the first section of the 843-acre park opened in 1858. The space was swampy farmland, to which was added 5 million cubic yards of stone and soil and 500,000 trees, vines and shrubs. They initially built 36 bridges and arches and 11 overpasses. It is an entirely man-made treasure of green space.
While not as dramatic, costly or time-consuming, we delighted in updating this kitchen less than two blocks from Central Park. There was some water damage on the cabinets, along with time having taken its toll in wear and tear. We removed the cabinet doors to our specially outfitted paint lab. There, our restoration and paint professionals corrected the water damaged sections and expertly resurfaced each cupboard door and drawer front. Once back in their Upper West Side home, we re-installed them, along with their brushed nickel, contemporary hardware.
Benjamin Moore’s Storm AF-700 medium gray offers a cool, confident, neutral presence. It is always less expensive to resurface cabinets than undertake a kitchen renovation, and it can result in the same wow factor. Cabinets can occupy half or more of the vertical flat space in a kitchen, so they command attention. We liked being involved in nudging this cabinetry from dinged and flawed to delightful and fantastic, just a hop, skip and a jump to Central Park with its 58 miles of pedestrian trails and a zoo!
