We all grow up to learn, at some point, that Santa Claus is not real. And now, that red, blue and yellow are not the primary colors. They are magenta, cyan and yellow, as the ink manufacturers knew a long time ago. Yellow, in general, evokes happiness, and blue is connected to peace and harmony. Magenta, named for a town in Lombardy in northern Italy, evokes power and passion, strength and energy.
It is bold and beautiful, and here it is emitting all that power and energy along a bank of elevator doors and between windows in a conference room. The color became quite popular in the art nouveau movement of the late 19th century. Ideally, it is just as inspiring and stimulating today in business meetings held here. As one paint company observes: “This classic hue mixes the drama of red with the decadence of violet.”
How it impacts people’s feelings runs the gamut from cheerful and content to rebellious and witty. When you blend all those emotions together in a valiant magenta environment, they may produce the awe-inspiring kind of creative ideas and innovative strategies that this boardroom group needs. Maybe there’s a big mixed bouquet of magenta flowers on the table, too, with zinnias, dianthus, hibiscus, azalea, verbena and petunias to match.
