In 1898, Richmond officially stepped into its existence as one of the five boroughs of New York City. It was re-named Staten Island in 1975 and is the most southern of the boroughs. Its roughly 60 square miles boasts 35 miles of waterfront. Bridges connect to New Jersey and Brooklyn, but the Staten Island Ferry is more fun, and free. There’s quite a bit to see and do, pizza to eat and, for us, an interesting metal resurfacing project on a vault.
